Over the past two years Blackburn with Darwen Borough Council has been working hard to regenerate the town centre. In addition to the Pennine Reach scheme which Euroshel is undertaking, a £33M development known as the Cathedral Quarter has been underway. This is a mixed-use scheme encompassing retail, commercial and leisure anchored by a new Premier Inn constructed by Eric Wright Construction.
Part of the scheme has to be introduce a new passenger exchange to put public transport at the heart of the development.
Euroshel designed a bespoke interchange shelter for the scheme which incorporated the Blackburn skyline and cathedral into specially manufactured etched glazing. Three interchange shelters have been installed and are now fully connected to the new RTPI system which is soon to be introduced across Blackburn.
